History:

Born into the Brume, life was a struggle from Kexinne's very first breath. She was an unexpected joy to her mother, who worked the seedy alehouses and inns scattered across the lower wards. Her father, a deadbeat noble, had slipped into the Brume to escape his duties and his nagging wife. With no father in the picture, Kex was raised by a loose network of women who earned their coin in less-than-reputable establishments. From a young age, she learned how to steal if she wanted to eat or how to distract drunk men while the women who raised her rifled through their gil purses.Kexinne was born into sin, and raised in it. But in her eyes, the world she knew wasn’t sinful, it was simply reality. As she grew older, she learned two things. First, that those in the Brume sat firmly at the bottom of the food chain. If she wanted to survive, she’d have to work hard, like her mother and aunties did scraping by with grit and resilience. Second, she came to understand that the Brume wasn’t a failing of its people, but was a symptom, and wound carved by the shortcomings of Ishgardian society itself. This frozen hellhole, a city of stone wasn’t created by the unfortunate or the ill, those forced to live in freezing, filthy streets. It wasn’t the fault of the poor, struggling just to keep a roof over their heads. No; this reality, the Brume, the world Kex had been born into, was the failure of the Ishgardian government. The Nobles. The well-off, tucked away in their warm, gilded homes. And the Church which, rather than raise up those at their lowest, chose to leave them in the pits of hell. The older Kex grew, the deeper her resentment festered, not at the people suffering beside her in the Brume, but at those who lived comfortably above it. Protest and unrest stirred in the Elezen’s heart. She got into fights with nobles who slithered down into the Brume and men who tried to swindle the women out of their gil, or worse, create more bastard children like herself. And when she came of age, when the leering began, and men started eyeing her like meat she cut off her hair, bound her chest, and dressed in men’s clothing to make their gazes stop. But Kex’s refusal to accept the life handed to her came at a cost.It left her isolated. The aunties who raised her turned their backs on her, said she scared off the clientele. Kex had only been trying to protect them from the men who would have used or hurt them. But she had become bad for business. Even her own mother turned away. Because she refused to marry. Because she cut her hair short. Because she bound her chest and pretended to be one of the men. Because she loved women, not men.The few friends she had left began to pull away when the drinking started. And Kex?
Kex was on a one-way path to the Witchdrop, with her sharp tongue, her fists, and her taste for trouble.

OOC:

OOC:Hey! I go by Cara! I've been writing in different Roleplay communities for well over a decade now on several different MMORPG's. If you Rped on SWToR we've probably brushed paths once or twice! Anyways, I'm a pretty chill and laid back person, I'm also a open book. I'm a huge defender of the LGBTQIA+ community and I'm over all a big doofus. I love collecting poke'mon cards, I love to do artwork, and there are a load of other games I play besides FFxiv. But, enough about me! Onward, to the OOC RP preferences!

OOC Rp:
- Communication is a requirement. If we plan something, and those plans change, it takes two seconds to send me a message and let me know. 10/10 times I'm going to be understanding. But, if you ghost me, or choose to ignore me for days on in rather than communicating with me, I will drop the Rp and move on. Respect is a two way street. I respect your time, please respect mine.
- I will not Rp with anyone under 21. I tend to write mature themes and I desire Rp partners who can communicate with me healthy boundaries and plots they want to explore.- I'm a paraform Rper - most my posts are two to three paragraphs long. More often than not I'll match my Rp partner, but I'm not really big on one liner posts.- I am NOT my character. Please do not bleed IC and OOC! I will nope out so fast if you bleed them IC feels out on me OOCly.- Who you are behind the screen does not bother me when writing. Your character is your character and we're writing a fictional narrative.-Plot before ERP.

Brumeling Rats:

Brumeling Rats:

Overview:In the frozen gutters of Ishgard’s Brume, a tight-knit group of Elezen and hybrid children, known on the streets as the “Brumeling Rats” form a makeshift family amidst poverty, prejudice, and brutality. Most of them are orphans, but a few have parents employed at a notorious brothel, "The Velvet Thimble", where warmth is fleeting and survival depends on knowing when to steal, when to run, and when to fight. Raised in the alleys, under scaffolds and balconies crusted with ice, these children grow up learning the unspoken rules of a society that would sooner ignore them than help them.Their childhoods are marked by daring pranks, fierce turf wars with rival groups of Brume-born youths, and the ever-looming threat of both Temple Knights and noble-born clients who see them as pests or worse. They grew up with frostbitten fingers and smoke-stung eyes, scraping together enough warmth, food, and stolen firewood to make it through each winter. While Temple Knights looked the other way and nobles tossed them crumbs, the Rats built their own kingdom among the alleyways. They learned to steal, to fight, and above all, to rely on each other. As the Rats aged, so did their ambitions. What began as petty theft, stolen loaves, lifted gil pouches, soon became sleight-of-hand and sleight-of-blade. They grew bolder, slicker, slipping trinkets from the silken laps of nobles lounging in the Jeweled Cozier. They grew stronger too, not for glory, but to provide, for each other, for the women of the Thimble, for the siblings left hungry by winter's cruelty. Their bonds deepened with every shared risk, every night they didn't freeze. But sin has weight, and the Brumeling Rats began to buckle under it. Moko grass found its way into their circle, then Somnus, and what began as an escape turned into a trade. It wasn’t enough to partake. No, they began to peddle. A few extra gil to survive became pockets full of poison. The Rats, once just thieves, now flirted with becoming something darker.

Who:

Kexinne Renard:

Kexinne is known simply as Kex to most as a knife in the dark and a shadow on the wind, one of the most feared cutthroats in the undercity of Brume. Born in the choking alleyways of the city’s industrial slums, she came up scrapping for bread crusts and sharp enough to know trust was more valuable than gold and twice as rare.As a child, she fell in with a crew of fellow strays and survivors. Together, they named themselves the Brumeling Rats, not out of pride, but defiance. They were vermin to the city’s nobles and guards, so they became cunning, fast, and impossible to stamp out. What began with pickpocketing and street grifts evolved into a lifelong bond forged by blood, hardship, and shared hunger.

Euphrosine Valhourdin:

An orphan from the Brume later adopted against her will by the lesser high house of Valhourdin. But la rouquine never forgot her roots, and combined her noble education with a Brumeling's criminal sensibilities and her special knack for glamour to become a particular high-class grifter and con artist. She is the distraction for the Brumeling Rats operations and childhood friends with Kexinne and Kashei.

Kashei was born in the Brume to a xaelan courtesan woman there. His sire is unknown but it is suspected he is a noble's bastard, his ears giving away that at the very least his sire is an elezen. Kashei has lived all of his life in the Brume with his childhood friends Kex and Euphie. As a child he was often dragged along on their shenanigans, getting into trouble and being a menace as many Brumeling children did. Now, he works as a courtesan, at the same house his mother worked at. While officially he is simply another courtesan there, he is often seen as the caretaker of the others that work at that house, tending to them when they are ill, stepping in to handle clients with more violent tastes, and using the gil he's earned to improve their living conditions. He has come to be a reliable, nurturing individual.

Hooks:

- 1. “I think you knew my brother. He ran with the Brumeling Rats, before they all scattered.”
(Your character recognizes Kexinne’s name or face from a sibling’s criminal past. Are they here to thank her, or blame her?)
- 2. “I’ve been told you help people disappear. I need to vanish for a while. Maybe forever.”
(Your character is on the run, from the law, a lover, or a past mistake. They seek Kexinne's rumored shelter or underworld ties.)
- 3. “You stole from my employer. I’m not here for revenge, I want to hire you.”
(Your character is impressed by her skill, or boldness, and has work for her. Could be shady, political, or personal.)
- 4. “I’ve heard you hate nobles. Good. I need someone with a blade and a grudge.”
(Your character has a score to settle with the upper crust, and sees a kindred spirit in Kexinne.)
- 5. “You’re not what I expected from the stories… You’re softer than they say.”
(Your character expected a rough-edged criminal. What they find is someone layered, guarded, and compelling.)
- 6. “You told me you didn’t believe in happy endings. I’d like to argue the point… maybe over dinner?”
(Someone challenges her cynicism with charm or idealism, and a strong drink.)
- 7. “They say you’d kill for your friends. What would you do for someone who loves you?”
(A risky declaration from someone who's caught real feelings for the Brumeling Rat.)
